Liminal Strata is an original comedy-horror science-fiction multiplayer RPG in development at Liminal Ledger Studios. It begins with something recognizable: a place that seems to understand people, even when the people in it no longer understand the place.
You are a Stray.
The Humans of the Strata are Strays. Some have been displaced from ordinary life; others were born in this world. Each has a private Administrator, while a surviving Framework governs the infrastructure around them.
Numbered Levels connect through Gates. Non-Human Inhabitants occupy the world alongside Strays. The experience is built around exploration, uncertainty, and the absurdity of systems that still have rules for you.
There are mysteries here that should be discovered through play. We intend to introduce the setting without answering them before you arrive.
A role you build, not a class you choose.
The design draws on attributes, equipment, and Oddities to shape a character's capabilities, rather than traditional MMO classes. Party play is part of the multiplayer direction: other Strays should be people you can act alongside, not simply names in the same space.
What is happening in development?
Internal Android playtests are helping refine interaction, equipment, combat presentation, maps, and multiplayer behaviour. A feature working once is not the same as it working reliably for different players and devices, so this phase involves iteration as well as new implementation.
The broader ambition is an MMO. Large-scale operation still requires further work and validation; we are not presenting the current development build as a finished or publicly available game.
What we will share.
This journal will cover selected design decisions and visible progress. Promotional artwork will be identified as artwork. When gameplay captures are published, they will be marked as work in progress where appropriate.
